Highwic was home to the Buckland family for over 100 years, and during that time some curious objects were collected by the family.

This special exhibition brings together a number of remarkable items from Highwic’s collection whose purpose or function is not immediately clear. Visitors to the house will have the opportunity to see these unique items, have a guess as to what they are, and then uncover the answer to the question, What am I?

The exhibition will include items that have not previously been on public display including a rubber cushion and an intriguing card game that Alfred Buckland might have played.

Entrance to this exhibition is included with entry to the house: adults $10, accompanied children and Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga members free.

This event is part of Auckland Council’s Auckland Heritage Festival, from 23 September to 8 October 2023. Visit heritagefestival.co.nz for a full list of events, or pick up a print programme from an Auckland Council Library. For festival updates follow Auckland Heritage on Facebook @aklheritage.
