In association with Unity Books, Old St Paul’s presents the 1957 Hammer horror, The Curse of Frankenstein, and you are all invited.

On the big screen at one of Wellington's most iconic heritage venues, this cinema experience is not to be missed.

The Curse of Frankenstein is a British horror film by Hammer Film Productions, loosely based on the 1818 novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley. It was Hammer's first colour horror film, and the first of their Frankenstein series. Its worldwide success led to several sequels, establishing "Hammer Horror" as a distinctive brand of Gothic cinema.

The film was directed by Terence Fisher and stars Peter Cushing as Victor Frankenstein and Christopher Lee as the Creature.

For the occasion, dress as a monster and win an INCREDIBLE prize. We encourage the likes of zombies, Gorgons, mummys, creatures from the Black Lagoon, Xenomorphs, viruses, Malebranche, despots, werewolves, Freddy Kruegers, psychopaths, Hulks and Hydes or Pennywise.

In the glorious shadows of this most famous of Gothic Revival buildings, Antoinette Ratcliffe from The Sick Bay will exhibit her taxidermy eye candy, and at the bar, we’ve conjured a monstrously delectable cocktail. We have Dark Eighties queen DJ Virago pulling out all the Goth/New Wave/Cold Wave stops, and many more surprises. We've thought about food too, with Wilson Barbeque on site plus options for herbivores!

Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga members receive a 10% discount off general admission tickets.

This event is R18.
