Watch all hell break loose on the big screen at Wellington’s iconic Gothic Revival landmark, Old St Paul’s, at a themed screening of the 1976 Brian De Palma supernatural cult film, Carrie.

In association with Audio Workshop, Old St Paul’s and Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga present an atmospheric cinema and music evening like no other.

Adapted from Stephen King's 1974 novel of the same name, the film stars Sissy Spacek as Carrie White, a shy 16-year-old who is derided and bullied at school. But Carrie has a secret: she has telekinetic powers, and she’s going to use them, to full effect.

Say your prayers.

You’re all invited to the prom. Dress your best, dead or alive, and be crowned one of our two Prom Sovereigns. The prizes are INSANE.

If you'd prefer to come as yourself, please do - dressing up is entirely optional.

The night includes a live performance by the one, the only, EARTH TONGUE (that’s Mermaiden Gussie Larkin and Ezra Simons of Soft Bait). Not long returned from a European tour, they’re going to blow your mind. We’ve coupled this with a suitably scary vinyl set by Radio Active’s Music Without Subtitle’s DJ TV DiSKO to complete an incredible soundscape befitting the backdrop.

Against which, we’ve some smashing stalls: Wellington’s Union Tattoo will set up shop purveying horror pins, prints and tees, and alternative fine artist Pepper Raccoon will tempt you with her wicked wares. Bloody hell, NZ Blood will even let you know your type and a bar will serve up, amongst other beverages, Dark and Stormy Death Punch. Herb's Mobile Records will be out front peddling his finest.

Doors open at 7.00 p.m. Film starts at 8.00 p.m. with intermission.

This event is R18.
