The Great Gatsby Show Featuring The Retro Pack
As part of the Wellington Jazz Festival, The Retro Pack presents The Great Gatsby Show, a performance celebrating the '20s and '30s.
Featuring the honey-voiced April Phillips, crooners James Tait-Jamieson (also swinging saxophone) and Andrew London (vocals and guitar), Kirsten London (bass), drummer Lance Philip, and special guest, New Zealand music legend, Wayne Mason on piano.
Come to the atmospheric Old St Paul's and relive the era of Louis Armstrong, Billie Holliday, Jelly Roll Morten and Duke Ellington, with songs by the Gershwins, Irving Berlin, Hoagy Carmichael, Cole Porter and others.
The Retro Pack has performed at jazz festivals, jazz clubs, theatres and parties all over the country. Their shows have included the award-winning 'Blue Eyes' tribute to Sinatra, winner of the Stellar Award for Best Musical production at the Fringe Festival in Wellington 2013; 'Unforgettable – The Music of Nat King Cole'; 'The Glory of Gershwin'; and 'Jazz on Broadway' which ran for two sell-out seasons at Wellington's Circa Theatre.
This concert highlights the tunes that epitomise the era of gangsters and flappers – 'This Joint is Jumping', 'Makin' Whoopee', 'Let's Do It, Let's Fall in Love', 'Puttin' on The Ritz' and many more.
Join in the fun and wear your 1920s Great Gatsby outfit!
